Where does it come from?

In addition to the European Union, Serbia has signed a number of bilateral agreements regulating visa‑free regimes. For example, citizens of the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation may enter and stay in Serbia for up to 30 days without a previously issued visa. Serbia has concluded a similar agreement with Turkey, allowing Turkish nationals to enter and stay in Serbia without a visa for up to 3 months.

Temporary Residence in Serbia

A temporary residence permit must be obtained by all foreign nationals who intend to stay in Serbia longer than the duration permitted by the visa issued for their entry into Serbia, or longer than the stay allowed under international agreements on visa‑free regimes.

Temporary residence is issued for a period of 6 months up to a maximum of one year. A previously granted residence permit may be renewed annually.

An application for extension of temporary residence must be submitted no earlier than 3 months and no later than 30 days before the expiration of the previously granted temporary residence permit.

Temporary residence may be granted on the following grounds:

   ● Temporary residence for the purpose of business activities

   ● Temporary residence for foreign citizens employed to work in Serbia

   ● Schooling or studies in Serbia
